Did you?

YES, fantastic high five, way to go!

If you are like most of us then you may have reached some of them but most likely you still have a few that you are putting back on the list for 2018.

Let me help you with this, goals have a purpose and that is to stretch you beyond what you thought you could achieve. When you achieve something that you didn’t think you could it expands your belief and tells your mind that anything is possible.

I truly believe in SMART goals however giving yourself a goal that is built purely from your imagination is a much better way of setting goals.

What you imagine and achieve builds confidence and new abilities. Last year at this time I wrote down a list of things I wanted to accomplish they were far outside of my comfort zone. And if I look at the list I have achieved them and more. Through accomplishing my goals it actually opened me up to new possibilities. And so bigger the imagination the bigger the goals became.

Setting goals you actually want to achieve is also a recipe for success. This will motivate you to take action. Action is the number one thing that most people don’t do. I would also suggest setting only a few goals this can help you take action and not get paralyzed by an overwhelming feeling that keeps you stuck.

I set myself a goal to get healthy at the beginning of 2017. I really wanted to lose weight and look better. However my goal was to get healthy this helped me work towards something versus thinking I had to stop something namely eating habits etc. It actually helped me think about the positive and learning something new. Now I work out 3-4 times a week and this was through looking at what I would gain not what I would have to give up. This is also another way of setting goals. Look at what the benefit is and what you will gain, versus what you must change. This will keep you motivated to keep going.

Don’t stress if you have not set a goal before New Years January is still a good time to set goals. Holidays are a busy time it can be difficult to set time with lots of functions and family around. Don’t beat your self up just get started when it works for you. The great thing about setting goals is that you can start at any time. If you dont start today start tomorrow and dont feel bad about it, instead give your self a pat on the back and be positive that you started.

This work sheet was a post from last year but I am reposting it as it is a great worksheet to start your goal setting for 2018.
